At GAXXXET we love the atmosphere created by candles. Formerly used as a light source, nowadays they have become a very popular item in home decoration.
If you are one of those who like candles too you will love this project! Today Laura from Loops by Laura proposes a simple project but very beautiful to decorate your summer tables, balconies, parties or even weddings.
The crochet of this project is very fretwork to let the candle light out. The effect created is beautiful and cozy.
- Natural Jute GANXXET
- Crochet Hook G/6 ( 4 mm )
- A glass jar with a wide mouth (you can recycle a jam jar)
- A candle or flowers
Time: 20 minutes
Stitches used: chain stitch (ch), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st), doble crochet (dc), increase (inc).
Step by step:
ROW 1: We start with a magic ring of 12 dc. We make a ring crocheting 3 ch st (count as a first dc) and 11 dc. We close with a sl st. (12 stitches in total).
ROW 2: 3 ch st and 1 dc in the same stitch, *2 dc (inc) in each stitch until the end of the row. Close with a sl st (24 stitches in total).
ROW 3: 3 ch st and 1 dc in the same stitch (inc), 1 dc, *2 dc (inc), 1 dc*, repeat * until the end. Close with a sl st. ( 36 stitches in total).Make as many rows as you need until the edge of the bottom of the jar with the usual increase progression.
ROW 4: 5 ch st, we skip 2 stitches, 1 dc in the next stitch (put the hook in the 4th stitch of the base). * 1 dc, 2 ch st, we skip 2 stitches. Repeat * until the end of the row and close with a sl st in the 3rd ch at the beginning of the row. (36 stitches in total).
ROW 5: Start with 1 sl st, 5 ch st, * 1 dc in the space of the 2 ch of the previous row, 2 ch st. Repeat * until the end of the row and close with a sl st (36 stitches in total).
Repeat rows 4 and 5 until the height of your jar. You have to create a net.
In the last row, we crochet 1 sc to strengthen the project. Just remember to start with 1 ch st and close with a sl st. Cut the jute and close the project.
If you wish to hand your candle holder you can make a handle with chain stitches or just cut a long jute twine and added to your project.
We would love to see your jute lanterns this summer! Use the #ganxxetlantern to share it with us!
