Jingle Bell Stocking

ganxxet cotton cones Christmas socking

Are you ready for the Holidays?!

We have our tree in the living room, our decorations ready and the front door with a garland and some lights but we didn't have a proper Christmas stocking so we decided to make one so Santa Claus won't miss us on Christmas Eve!

I'm in love with this pattern and I'm planning to make one in each color for each member of my family, including our furry family, of course!

You can include a letter or pompons to personalize it too! So let's crochet our sock!

GANXXET COTTON CONE CHRISTMAS

STEP BY STEP:

(top of the sock) ***work this part in your desired main color***
CH 43
R1 – in the 2 nd CH from the hook place a HDC (half double crochet). Continue with HDCs all the way
across. CH 2. Turn.
R2 – (ch 2 counts as first HDC) HDC in the next stitch. * Make a bobble stitch in the next stitch (***place
5 DC into the same stitch leaving a total of 6 loops on your hook. You will then YO and pull through all 6 loops to create your bobble stitch). Place a HDC into the next 4 sts. Repeat from * across. CH 2. Turn.
R3 – (CH 2 counts as the first HDC) HDC in the FRONT LOOP of every stitch all the way across. CH 2. Turn.
R4 – (ch 2 counts as the first HDC) HDC in the BACK LOOP of every stitch all the way across. CH 2. Turn.
R5 – (ch 2 counts as the first HDC) HDC in every stitch all the way across. CH 2. Turn.
***you will repeat rows 2 – 5 until you have a panel that is 10 inches long.
You will then tie off your yarn.

(THE HEEL OF THE STOCKING)***work this in a contrasting color or in the same color.
With right side facing together. skip the first 32 sts of last row, join your contrasting color in next st; ch1, sc in same st and in next 9 sts, bring other side of stocking around and sc in first 11 sts; turn – 21 sts.

Work the HEEL rows as follows:
R1 - Ch 1, sc in first 14 sc; turn.
R2 - Ch 1, sc in first 7 sc; turn.
R3 - Ch 1, sc in first 7 sc, sc in next st of long row below; turn. – 8 sc.
R4 - Ch 1, sc in first 8 sc, sc in next st of long row below; turn – 9 sc.
***Continue in this manner until all 21 heel sts are worked. Fasten off.

(THE MIDDLE SECTION BETWEEN THE HEEL AND TOE) ***switch back to your main stocking color***
Take your heel and fold it and the rest of the sock as though it were seamed. Find the middle stitch on the heel and add your main color back on. CH 1.
From here we will work in the round.
You are going to create a “base” round of SC all the way around coming back to your CH 1 and connecting with a SL ST. ***BE AWARE***when you get to the section where you need to connect the edge of your heel to the stocking part, be sure to skip 2 stitches. You do this because you want your heel to come around just like on a regular sock you would wear yourself.
R1 – CH 2 (counts as first HDC). HDC into the next ST . * Create a Bobble stitch in the next ST. HDC in the next 4 sts. Repeat from * around ending with 1 HDC in the last st. SL ST to the top of the CH 2.
R2 – CH 2. (counts as first HDC). HDC in the BACK LOOPS all the way around. SL ST to the top of the CH 2.
R3 – CH 2. (counts as first HDC). HDC in the FRONT LOOPS all the way around. SL ST to the top of the CH2.
R4 – CH 2. (counts as first HDC). HDC in the BACK LOOPS all the way around.
R5 – 14: repeat rows 1 – 4.
R15 – CH 1 (counts as first SC). SC in each stitch all the way around. SL ST to the top of the CH 1.

(THE TOE) ***change back to your heel color***
Attach your yarn anywhere and CH 1.
R1 – 2: (ch 1 counts as first SC). SC in every stitch all the way around. SL ST to CH 1.
R3 – (ch 1 counts as first SC). SC in the next 3 sts. *SC2TOG (single crochet 2 together). SC in the next 4 sts. Repeat from * all the way around. SL ST to the top of the CH 1.
R4 – (ch 1 counts as first SC). SC all the way around. SL ST to the top of the CH1.
R5 - (ch 1 counts as first SC). SC in the next 2 sts. *SC2TOG (single crochet 2 together). SC in the next 3 sts. Repeat from * all the way around. SL ST to the top of the CH 1.
R6 – 7: (ch 1 counts as first SC). SC all the way around. SL ST to the top of the CH1.
R8 - (ch 1 counts as first SC). SC in the next st. *SC2TOG (single crochet 2 together). SC in the next 2 sts. Repeat from * all the way around. SL ST to the top of the CH 1.
R9 - : (ch 1 counts as first SC). SC all the way around. SL ST to the top of the CH1.
R10 – CH1, SC2tog all the way around.
***from here you can determine if you want to do another SC round or do another SC2TOG round. It’s up to you!
Tie off.

(SEAM)

At this point you are ready to start seaming everything closed and weaving in the ends. I recommend flipping the stocking inside out and doing the seaming. This will allow the outside to look very clean and crisp!

(OPTIONAL HANGING RING)

If you decide you want to add a ring for hanging, you can crochet 5 SC on the top corner where it would hang. Then, you will CH 9. Then SL ST to the sock and you have created a loop for hanging your stocking!

That's it!

Happy crochet and Happy Holidays!!
