FAQs

Merino roving wool is a type of wool spun from the fleece of merino sheep. At GANXXET, we source this wool from cruelty-free farms in South Africa and South America to ensure the best animal welfare practices.

Once farmers shear the sheep, their wool is sent off to be cleaned and carded, separating and aligning the fibers. It's then twisted into long, thin ropes of fiber called roving. This fiber is softer than traditional wool types, making it ideal for next-to-skin use.

Our merino wool comes in a variety of colors. We use commercial acid dyes that conform with Oeko-Tex 100 quality system EN71 so you never have to worry about harmful chemicals.

Since it's so soft, merino roving wool is perfect for creating cozy garments and accessories, like sweaters, hats, scarves, and mittens.

Roving wool has quite a bit of stretch due to its crimped fibers, so you can use it for projects that require a lot of flexibility, such as babywear or activewear. It’s also lightweight and breathable, making it ideal for warmer climates.

Merino roving wool is also easy to dye, which means you can create unique colors for your projects.

Using merino roving wool is pretty straightforward. You can use it with any of your usual handicraft techniques, like knitting, crocheting, weaving, felting, or even macrame.

However, roving wool isn't yet spun into thin strands, so it's considered a jumbo yarn. That means it's best to use larger needles or hooks when working with this material.

You'll also want to ensure that whatever tools you use are smooth, as the delicate fibers may catch on any nicks or burrs on your needles.

You can create entire projects from this wool or combine it with other materials to create unique textures. Check out our wide variety and see what catches your eye.

Merino wool is a versatile fiber, so the possibilities of what you can create are nearly endless. Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

- Baby booties or baby hats
- Colorful scarves, shawls, and wraps
- Warm mittens and gloves
- Chunky sweaters
- Soft blankets
- Leg warmers
- Cozy slippers
- Macrame wall hangings

No matter what project you choose, merino roving wool is sure to give your creations a luxurious look and feel. Enjoy the crafting process with GANXXET's high-quality materials!
